Quick answers about safety, privacy, and how matching works
Learn the basics of Stumble
Stumble is a platform that connects people through shared life experiences. You share what you're going through with our AI, and we match you with others who truly understand—because they've been there too. It's not therapy, it's human connection based on lived experience.
1. Start sharing: Tell the AI what you're going through in a private Vent chat.
2. We look for resonance: We identify core themes and find people with similar lived experiences.
3. Mutual match first: Chat opens only when both sides accept.
4. You stay in control: Reveal details at your own pace.
Stumble is for people going through something hard who want to talk to someone who truly gets it from lived experience. It's not a replacement for therapy or professional help; it's a peer support space for human connection.
Yes, Stumble is currently free to use. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but core matching and connection features will remain accessible.
How sharing with AI works
When you chat with our AI, you can share whatever you're going through—freely and without judgment. The AI listens, asks thoughtful questions, and helps you articulate your experiences. Behind the scenes, it identifies themes and struggles to help find better matches. Nothing is shared publicly, and your raw chat is not shown to other users.
Yes. Your chats with the AI are private and encrypted. We use the content only to understand your experiences and find resonant matches—never to share your actual words with other users. Other users only see curated themes, never raw chat.
No. The AI is a facilitator, not a counselor. It helps you express and organize your thoughts, but it doesn't provide medical advice, diagnoses, or therapy. If you're in crisis, please contact your local emergency services or a mental health crisis helpline. You can find resources in your country at befrienders.org.
How we connect you with others
We don't match on surface keywords—we match on the meaning behind your experiences. Our AI identifies themes, struggles, and patterns from your chats. Then we find others whose lived experiences resonate with yours. Quality over quantity: you'll see fewer, more meaningful matches rather than endless swipes.
Potential matches see shared themes and struggle categories—never your raw words or personal details. For example, they might see 'coping with loss' or 'navigating career change', but not the specific stories you shared. You control what you reveal in conversations.
How we protect you and your data
Stumble is not equipped to handle mental health emergencies. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact your local emergency services or a mental health crisis helpline. You can find resources in your country at befrienders.org.
Please reach out to professionals who can help.
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We follow industry-standard security practices. We never sell your personal data, and we only use it to provide and improve the service. Your raw AI chat is private and not shown to other users. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
